How to Get Started With A Crisis Response Plan
How can you keep your services running even in the face of uncertainty? We’ve put together a checklist to get started right away.
During uncertain times like the recent coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, behavioral health providers become more important than ever. Studies show that chronic stress increases rates of drug use, while stress can also trigger higher rates of depression and anxiety. Not to mention the fact that the ongoing opioid crisis continues to take lives even as coronavirus spreads.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) understands this and has labeled behavioral health treatment providers as “essential services” during a crisis or emergency. In fact, SAMHSA has even created resources for treatment providers to use during emergencies, including a disaster response guide.
